Zusammenfassung: "Notes about the life and times of the late Reverend Dr Jules Charles Emil Riotte. He was a Lutheran pastor for the Lusatian Sorbian community who describes efforts to Germanize that Slavic minority, the rise to power of the Nazis, his own experiences as a concentration camp victim, his forcible enrolment in the Organization Todt as a labourer, eventual conscription into the German military, service around D-Day and eventual surrender (1944) to the American army - he was transferred to England where he worked for the BBC in the final years of the war and then converted to Roman Catholicism, later to the Ukrainian Catholic Church, which he then would serve until his death. From his early years he was interested in entomology and went on to make serious contributions to that field of study, for the Royal Ontario Museum and later Bernice P Bishop Museum (in Honolulu), as well as completing a PhD at the University of Montreal on Sorbian history."--(Provided by publisher.)
