Aid and environment in Mozambique

Mozambique benefits from environmental aid-related funds, but it is still unclear whether donor commitments render directly into projects that are copiously implemented for the purposes stated and what aid flows have actually been doing and are doing in the area of aid and environment in Mozambique. This study aims at determining what aid flows have actually been doing and to identify sectors prioritized by the donors. Additionally, the study assessed the trends in environmental issues in general, with emphasis to specific environmental issues, such as biodiversity, climate change, and desertification. Findings reveal that despite the extensive range of legal instruments to respond to the environmental call, only 9 per cent of the overall aid flows are allocated to environment-related issues.
