Schnitter aus Rust betreten die Eisdecke und legen Steigeisen an. Gearbeitet wird mit verschiedenen Rohrstoßeisen, mit Rohrreißern und Rohrsicheln. Die gebundenen Garben werden jeweils von drei Männern mit Handschlitten oder auf Pferdefuhrwerken an das Ufer gebracht und dort zu Kegeln aufgestapelt.
