„Helden“ oder Arbeiter*innen? : Systemrelevanz und Demokratie

Der Beitrag diskutiert alltagspolitische Intervention von Arbeiter*innen zu ihrer „Systemrelevanz“ demokratietheoretisch. Die These lautet, dass objektiv und subjektiv ein fundamentaler, in der Wissenschaft viel zu wenig beachteter Zusammenhang von sozialer Demokratie und gesellschaftlichem Charakter von (Lohn-) Arbeit besteht. Der Beitrag beginnt mit einer illustrativen Darstellung alltagspolitischer Interventionen zu Systemrelevanz, diskutiert anschließend den Zusammenhang von Arbeitsbegriff und Demokratie und aktualisiert diesen Zugang mit Bezug auf die ökofeministische Debatte und einen Begriff von Arbeit als fürsorglicher Praxis. Abschließend wird die diskurspolitische Umwandlung von Arbeiter*innen in „Helden“ als Angriff auf soziale Demokratie skizziert.
Abstract: The article discusses the everyday political intervention of workers in terms of their “systemic relevance” in terms of democracy theory. The thesis is that objectively and subjectively there is a fundamental connection between social democracy and the societal character of (wage) work, which has received too little attention in scholarship. The paper begins with an account of everyday political interventions regarding systemic relevance, subsequently discusses the connection between the concepts of work and democracy, and updates this approach with reference to the ecofeminist debate and a concept of work as caring practice. Finally, the political transformation of workers into “heroes” in discourse is outlined as an attack on social democracy.
