Melanesier (Santa Cruz-Inseln, Riff-Inseln) - Herstellen eines Bogens

Ein Mann aus der Siedlung Malumbu auf Fenualoa holt aus dem Buschland elastisches Holz und Rindenbaststreifen und fertigt daraus einen Reflexbogen mit flacher Innen- und konvexer Außenseite sowie Zapfenenden und Bastsehnen.
In the bushland on Fenualoa (Ngasinue) a man cuts a treeshoot in order to obtain elastic wood for making a bow. From another tree he loosens a strip of bark bast for the string. In the village of Malumbu the man carves a bow rod (reflex bow) with the inside flat and the outside convex which has mortised ends. The "string" is then twisted from strands of the dried bast. The man bends the bow with it and shoots a test arrow.
