Kupferstich

Das Blatt zeigt den Campo di Santa Maria Formosa aus nördlicher Richtung. Er befindet sich im Sestiere Castello, östlich des Canal Grande. En Face ist die gleichnamige Kirche Santa Maria Formosa zu sehen. Unter Mauro Codussi wurde die baufällige, ältere Kirche ab 1492 durch einen Neubau ersetzt - in der Form ist sie auch heute noch zu sehen. Der Campanile ist eine Zutat des 17. Jahrhunderts. Die Kirche ist geostet und liegt daher diagonal auf dem Platz, was der Stich zugunsten der Frontalansicht der Fassade negiert.
