A Study of the Soviet Union’s Historic Issues Since China’s Reform and Opening-Up
Abstract: From the late 1970s to the present, Chinese research on the historic issues of the Soviet Union can be roughly divided into three stages. First, around the reform and opening-up of China, the Chinese academic circle focused on the study of Soviet Union’s important historic figures and events, and also began to study their institutional problems. Second, at the beginning of the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Chinese academics explored the causes for the dramatic changes in the Soviet Union from the perspective of learning from their lessons, and delved into the deeper problems troubling the country. Third, since the beginning of the new century, with the declassification of a large amount of archival materials, Chinese academics have studied the Soviet issues in greater depth and breadth.
