Learn and Discover: Educational Offers in the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek
How can the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek be integrated into classrooms or universities? How can you experience culture from home? On this page, you can find out all about the various educational programmes and events on the wide range of topics covered by the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek - for teachers, pupils, students and anyone interested in culture.
For the use of digitised cultural heritage in schools, we provide learning materials for pupils from the 9th grade onwards. The materials help teachers to integrate virtual exhibitions and picture galleries into their lessons or to use primary sources quickly and in a legally compliant manner. The materials offer starting points for lessons in subjects such as history, German and Latin. They familiarise pupils with digital resources and promote their media literacy and research skills.

A dossier with texts in easy read offers extended access to the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek. Here you can read texts on topics such as immigration, women's history and mobility and discover exciting objects.
Have you worked with pupils or students on objects from the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek and produced your own works? We can display text, images or videos under the heading ‘Cultural heritage for everyone’. There you can also be inspired by the creative works on digitised cultural heritage produced by pupils.
Events
In our ‘Kultur in der Mittagspause’ event series, curators and educators give an online and live tour of their virtual exhibitions once a quarter and provide insights into the concept, background and thematic highlights. Participation is free of charge and possible without registration via WebEx.
We regularly organise information events for multipliers on the use of the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek and its subportals in schools and universities.
The Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek is coming into the classroom with two programmes on German history after 1945 aimed at pupils from 9th Grade upwards. In one workshop, we are looking at the topic of so-called guest and contract labour in the West- and East-Germany. In a virtual tour, pupils can learn about the history of the uprising of 17 June 1953. Would you like us to come to your classroom digitally? Then get in touch with us!
