Coding da Vinci, the Cultural Hackathon, interconnects the worlds of culture and technology. In spring 2022, Coding da Vinci will come to Saxony, Poland and the Czech Republic and demonstrate once again the surprising range of possibilities in open cultural data.

How does the hackathon work?

At the kick-off event on 19 and 20 March 2022, the cultural institutions will present their data sets and those taking part will get to know each other. In a short idea pitch, you will have the opportunity to present your project idea and inspire others who participate. Come together as a team and exchange interests, skills, and ideas for the further development of the project.

In the subsequent six-week sprint phase between 21 March and 29 April 2022, you and your team will develop your idea into a prototype. You will get inspiration and support at several meetings taking place during this phase.

At the award ceremony on 30 April 2022, you will present your project to an expert jury and thus have the chance to win exceptional prizes in various categories.

Do join us and become a part of Coding da Vinci East³ 2022!

Info for those participating

Are you good at software development, graphic applications, or design, are you interested in our neighbouring countries Poland and the Czech Republic, do you like to hack, are you an artistic figure, do you design games, do you have a creative mind, or are you simply interested in culture and want to develop new ideas with like-minded people? If one of these points applies to you, then Coding da Vinci East³ 2022 offers you the chance to get in touch with cultural institutions from Saxony, Poland, and the Czech Republic to design new approaches to our digital cultural heritage: with apps, websites, VR/AR implementations, interactive installations, data visualisations, or whatever else you might think of.

Cultural institutions from Saxony, Poland and the Czech Republic are providing data and content for Coding da Vinci East³ 2022 under an open licence. The data sets are expected to be accessible in the Coding da Vinci data portal from the beginning of February 2022.
