By Philippe Genêt (Coding da Vinci)

Coding da Vinci Schleswig-Holstein 2021 will be taking stock after the prize-giving ceremony – with data providers, participants, regional organisers on the Nationwide Digital Day on 18th June 2021 at 2 pm – and the organisers of the "hackathon x" at the Badisches Landesmuseum Karlsruhe (Baden State Museum in Karlsruhe) will whet your appetite for even more culture-coding.

What happens when creative hackers are able to play with cultural data just as their fancy takes them? It’s quite simple: they create entertaining, innovative approaches which make you curious about digital and tangible cultural heritage.

In hackathons like “Coding da Vinci” – most recently in Schleswig-Holstein – or the “hackathon x”, coming soon in Karlsruhe, surprising and playful applications are created on the basis of open cultural data, such as the augmented reality project “Historischer Kleiderschrank” (“Historical Wardrobe”), among other things.

The panel discussion will take you behind the scenes of this hackathon and directly into the land of digital possibilities. Using current examples and from their own experience, participants, data providers and organisers will talk about the potential there is in open cultural data.

The event will take place on Zoom and is free of charge.

Participants include:

  • Coding da Vinci – the cultural hackathon
  • Schleswig-Holsteinische Landesbibliothek (Schleswig-Holstein State Library)
  • Open Data Headquarters Schleswig-Holstein
  • Badisches Landesmuseum, Karlsruhe
