De refugiados a parias, en la modernidad líquida

Para Zygmunt Bauman el fenómeno de las "vidas desperdiciadas" es sólo un producto del proyecto de la modernidad, del cual este autor fue uno de los mayores críticos. Si bien el discurso de la modernidad ha variado, a su juicio, el fragmentado y, por tanto, precario concepto de "modernidad" debe entonces ser reconstruido. La agudización de las contradicciones del discurso de la modernidad se asienta en fenómenos dramáticos, como el de los desplazados, el de los refugiados, el de los miserables, etcétera; es decir, de lo que Bauman denominó "desechos humanos".
For Zygmunt Bauman the phenomenon of "wasted lives" is only a product of the project of modernity, of which this author was one of the greatest critics. While the discourse of modernity has varied, in Bauman's view the fragmented and therefore precarious concept of "modernity" must then be reconstructed. The sharpening of the contradictions of the discourse of modernity is based on dramatic phenomena such as those of the displaced, the refugees, the miserable, and so on; that is, what Bauman called "human waste".
