Beinwell. Der Nektar ist aufgrund seiner Lage für Bienen und kurzrüsselige Hummeln erst zugänglich, nachdem "erfahrene" Hummeln durch die Basis der Blütenröhre ein Loch gestoßen haben. Die Bestäubung erfolgt durch Pollensammler.
