Perspektiven einer innovativen, kulturellen Filmarbeit : Das Video-on-Demand-Portal filmfriend: Ein zukunftsfähiges, kulturell relevantes Geschäftsmodell für Öffentliche Bibliotheken

Immer mehr Stadtbibliotheken bieten ihren Nutzer*innen das Video-on-Demand-Portal filmfriend als eigenes Streaming-Angebot für Filme und Serien an. Damit schaffen sie ein filmkulturelles Gegengewicht zu kommerziellen Streaming-Diensten und erreichen erstmals auch Menschen, die traditionelle Wege der Filmrezeption (Kino, Fernsehen, DVD etc.) bislang nicht oder nur bedingt nutzen. Mit ihrem digitalen Filmangebot ermöglichen Büchereien einen erleichterten Zugang zur Filmkultur und beteiligen sich konstruktiv am sozialen Wandel in der Filmrezeption.
Abstract: More and more city libraries offer their users the video-on-demand portal filmfriend as a separate streaming offer for films and series. In this way, they create a film-cultural counterweight to commercial streaming services and, for the first time, they achieve people who have little or no use of traditional ways of receiving films (cinema, television, DVD, etc.). With their digital film offerings, libraries facilitate access to film culture and provide constructive support for social change in the reception of films.
