Beide Gespräche dienen der Analyse und dem Studium einer psychoanalytisch orientierten Gesprächsführung, dem Vergleich der Interventionen der Therapeuten, der von ihnen erkundeten objektiven und subjektiven Inhalte aus der Vergangenheit und Gegenwart der Klientin sowie ihrer Einstellung gegenüber dem jeweiligen Gesprächsführer.

Both interviews serve the purposes of analysis and the study of a psychoanalytically oriented interview. They allow a comparison of interventions by the therapists, and a comparison of the objective and subjective matters from the past and present of the client which they were able to explore, as well as the client's attidue towards the interviewers.
