This film shows in slow motion the hummingbird Chlorostilbon melanorhynchus flying on the spot. Sequences, taken one after another, show the bird from the side, from the front, from behind, above and below. The position of a tube for feeding was varied for different sequences. Thus different body postures and directions of wing beat are to be seen. - The avarage frequency at which the pictures were taken was 3000 f/s.
