El autor hace un recorrido por los principales analistas estadounidenses en lo que se refiere a la idea de comunidad. Examina tanto a liberales como a comunitaristas y los enfrentamientos entre ambos bandos. Después de un recuento de los puntos principales de cada lado, entra de lleno a considerar a los pragmáticos. Su escrito nos ofrece una visión general del pensamiento estadounidense respecto a las características, creación y desarrollo de las comunidades democráticas.
The author takes us on a journey along with the main North American analysts concerned with the idea of community. He takes a look at liberals and communitarians, and the clashes between both. After considering the main points of each side, he then goes on to a deeper look at pragmatists. His paper offers us a general view of North American thinking regarding the characteristics, creation and development of democratic communities.
