The film shows the uterus during the course of delivery at the end of the 30th day of pregnancy. It can be seen that the foetuses remain in their place, quite undisturbed, while the contraction waves sweep along the length of the uterine horns. When a contraction wave reaches the empty part of the uterus, near the cervix, this shortens considerably and is drawn back over the nearest foetus. A contraction ring is formed behind the foetus and propels it towards the cervix. Once the foetus has passed the cervix, it is moved on by contractions of the vagina.
