A dimensão cultural do desenvolvimento: uma incursão teórica em Celso Furtado e Amartya Sen

The present debate intends to highlight the importance of the cultural dimension for the development of a nation. It is sought to make a brief historical survey on the particularities of Brazil and Latin America that in global geopolitics are inserted under the sign of dependence, underdevelopment and the periphery of capitalism under the point of view, mainly, of the theorists Celso Furtado and Amartya Sen, through the method of literature review. It is evident that rulers must discard the imitation of capitalism's own patterns of consumption, as well as foster the cultural diversity existing in the territory itself and promote development that is first anchored in the individual freedoms of citizens.
