Pago por servicios ambientales hidrológicos: caso de estudio Parque Nacional del Nevado de Toluca, México

Nevado de Toluca National Park is an area of vital importance from the hydrological point of view, since it is one of the recharge areas to the aquifer that supplies to the inhabitants of the Toluca Valley and part of Mexico City. Its water potential has been diminished by numerous anthropogenic impacts. We need to search for tools in order to address this problem. The purpose of this study is to estimate the willingness to pay from a sample of users in the Toluca Valley as part of a program of hydrological ecosystem service payment. The results show that the percentage of users willing to contribute surpass 50%, with amounts ranging between 30 and 80 pesos per person per month, but there is a sector of the respondents who would not contribute in cash, but are willing to carry out actions focused in the environmental care.
