Ardea cinerea (Ardeidae) - Putzen des Kleingefieders

Der Graureiher biegt zum Putzen seines Kleingefieders den Hals mit dem abgewinkelten Kopf und fährt mit dem Schnabel durch die Federn. Andere Gefiederpartien werden mit den Zehenkrallen gekratzt.
The film shows preening of the plumage, especially of the minor plumage, of the grey heron. It is to be noted that the long neck can not only be held stretched out straight or bent s-like against the body. The bill can reach the whole surface of the body only by extreme ventral bending of the head and by horizontal as well as vertical movements of the neck. The film demonstrates the scratching of the grey heron.
