Die vorgestellten bodenlebenden Asseln ernähren sich von Tieren. Serolidae sind dorsoventral abgeflachte Formen, die auf dem Sandboden (Ceratoserolis trilobitoides) oder im Sand eingegraben (Serolis beddardi) auf Beute lauern. Cirolanidae haben zylindrische Gestalt und graben sich ebenfalls ein. Die verwandten Aegidae (Aega antarctica) sind Ektoparasiten von Fischen. Gnathiidae sind im Jugendstadium (Manca) ebenfalls Blutsauger. Als erwachsene Tiere leben sie in Schwämmen und nehmen keine Nahrung mehr auf. Chaetiliidae (Glyptonotus antarcticus) leben räuberisch, z. B. von Polychaeten.
The benthic isopods presented feed on other animals. Serolidae are dorsoventrally flattened forms that lie in wait for their prey either on the sandy bottom (Ceratoserolis trilobitoides) or buried in the sand (Serolis beddardi). Cirolanidae have a cylindrical form and also bury themselves. The related Aegidae (Aega antarctica) are ectoparasites of fish. Gnathiidae are also bloodsuckers in their juvenile stage (manca). As adult animals they live in sponges and no longer ingest food. Chaetiliidae (Glyptonotus antarcticus) live as predators, e.g., of polychaetes.
