La bioética y los derechos y libertades fundamentales del hombre

En este artículo, el autor analiza los vínculos que deben existir entre la ciencia, la ética, la moral y los derechos humanos. En su trabajo, el autor expone el trascendente papel que desempeña la bioética como guardiana de los derechos y libertades fundamentales del hombre, papel basado en una relación dinámica entre los desarrollos científico-tecnológicos aplicados -en la biología, la biotecnología, la genética y, particularmente en sus modernas expresiones, la genómica y la proteómica- y los valores y opciones éticas humanos. Asimismo, se aborda esta temática desde el punto de vista de la creciente cooperación internacional.
In this article, the author analyzes the ties that should exist between science, ethics, morality and human rights. In his work, the author exposes the transcendental role that bioethics holds as a guardian of fundamental human rights and liberties based in a dynamic relation between the scientific and technologic developments applied -in fields such as biology, biotechnology, genetic and, specially in her modern expressions, genomics and proteomics- and human values and ethical options. Likewise, the article enters upon the growing international cooperation in this matters.
