Product integration method for the simulation of radial effects in fiber melt spinning of semi‐crystalline polymers

Abstract: In this work we consider the simulation of a mixed‐dimensional model for viscous fiber melt spinning of semi‐crystalline polymers including radial effects on the temperature and crystallinity. We present a suitable algorithm based on the product integration method and an analytical solution of the temperature advection‐diffusion equation. A numerical convergence and performance analysis confirms that our approach results in an accurate and efficient algorithm.
