Vor Sonnenaufgang gehen die Frauen auf den Friedhof, wo sie ihre Toten individuell beklagen sowie die Gräber umkreisen und beweihräuchern. Der zweite Besuch im Friedhof erfolgt nach dem Gottesdienst etwa um 11 Uhr. Auf die Gräber werden Blumen, brennende Kerzen und die Totengaben gestellt. Die Zeremonie der kollektiven Totenklage beginnt, wenn die Kirchenglocken ertönen.
The film shows the death laments in the cementery in the village Priseaca (Olt district). The first part shows the laments of the women before sunrise. The second part shows the lamentations in the morning after the church service. Some lamenting women are shown in several parts of the cementery as well as the more passive participation of some men also present at the morning lamentations.
