Currents and Dispersion of Dissolved Matter in the North Sea

The spread of passive particles in the North Sea highlighting the important physical processes - seasonal currents, density and atmospheric effects. Rivers feeding the North Sea are shown together with the asymmetrical distribution of particles with highest values at the coast as a result of the medium currents. A strong vertical layering is due to high variability in density and the independence of the surface layers in summer. Computer simulations based on real values measured over 13 years.
