A historical overview about the 60 years of existence of the Escuela Interamericana de Bibliotecología (Universidad de Antioquia) is presented; as well as the current and future scenarios which are manifested from its status as a forming institution of librarianship, archivology and information science professionals that respond to the challenges set from the development of the Information Society, techonlogical advances and ongoing progress in social enviroment.
