Electores persuadidos: democracia de masas y televisión

Este artículo elabora una reflexión teórica pertinente en torno al papel de los medios de comunicación en la participación política de los ciudadanos. A partir de una revisión de las principales teorías y tesis acerca de cómo los medios pueden llegar a persuadir al auditorio, de los límites y/o de las distorsiones en tal proceso y de cómo las elecciones se han convertido en un momento ideal para investigar el comportamiento de los sujetos frente a la televisión, este trabajo señala las directrices sobre las cuales se puede abordar el análisis teórico y empírico de este fenómeno.
This article develops a consistent theoretical reflection about the role of mass media in the political participation of citizens, in the context of Democracy. The author analyzes the main theories that show the role of mass media in their interests in persuading audiences to conduct their political actions and the limits and distorsions in that process. At the same time, this work provides theoretical elements to argument that electoral processes are the main arena to research about the relationship between citizenship-television-politics and show the ways to conduct an empirical research about it.
