Galerida cristata (Alaudidae) - Brüten und Hudern

Haubenlerche. Wiederholt kommt das Weibchen zum Nest und setzt sich beim Hudern auf den Eiern zurecht, wobei es sich nicht nur tief auf das Gelege kuschelt, sondern sich auch seitlich dreht.
The crested lark (Galerida cristata) is a member of the ground-hatching class of birds. The nest is constructed in open terrain, in meadows, fields, at the sides of roads, ditches and so on. The female usually lays four to six eggs, whose colour can vary from yellow to reddish-white with grey and yellowish-brown spots and speckles. Each summer, two and occasionally three broods are reared. The female hatches out the eggs on her own. The films shows how a female crested lark forms its nest and incubates the eggs. In doing so, the bird nestles down deeply over the clutch.
