Tiempo largo y tiempo corto: elementos para el estudio de la dimensión temporal en los procesos de cambio político

El objetivo fundamental del presente artículo consiste en determinar el papel específico que desempeña la variable tiempo en los procesos de cambio político, es decir, ¿qué relación existe entre las características de un ordenamiento institucional particular y sus posibilidades concretas de perduración o transformación en el tiempo? Para encarar el problema, el autor analiza dos tipos de temporalidades asociadas comúnmente al estudio del cambio político: la temporalidad vinculada a las estructuras (tiempo largo) y la temporalidad vinculada a las coyunturas (tiempo corto).
This article seeks mainly to determine the specific role played by the variable of time with regard to processes of political change. What is the relationship between the traits of a particular institutional framework and its concrete possibilities for enduring or for being transformed over a period of time? To provide a solution to this problem, the author analyzes two different temporalities commonly associated to the study of political change: temporality linked to the structures (long term) and to junctures (short term).
