Katze und Wels

Netsuke

Eine als Frau gekleidete Katze hockt auf einem Wels, den Kopf in menschlichem Habitus in die Pfoten gestützt.
Das Netsuke ist eine ungewöhnliche, dreidimensionale Umsetzung eines namazu-e (Wels-Bild). Nach 1877 kamen diese satirischen Zeichnungen in illustrierten Zeitungen in Mode.
