Cooperation Agreement

To ensure that the digital content from your institution can become a visible part of the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek (DDB) first of all requires a Cooperation Agreement.

This agreement grants the Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz (Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation), as represented by the DDB, the necessary rights of use concerning the metadata (and in individual cases, derivatives and digital content) stored centrally at FIZ Karlsruhe – Leibniz Institute for Information Infrastructure. The agreement also defines each party’s responsibilities and liabilities.

To ensure the DDB can fulfil its duty as national aggregator of digital cultural and scientific content from Germany for Europeana, the Cooperation Agreement is compatible with the Europeana data exchange Agreement. It enables the DDB to pass on metadata, or a specified extract thereof, to Europeana. In so doing the DDB is not simply adopting the Europeana agreement, but fulfilling the specific national features and requirements for cultural and scientific institutions in Germany.
