Anläßlich eines Ahnengedenkfestes werden die die Ahnen repräsentierenden Kultgegenstände aus ihrem Sanktuarium geholt, gewaschen und zum Dorfplatz gebracht. Das Sanktuarium wird gebaut. Ein prophetischer Nganga-Tänzer tritt auf. Während die Männer danach auf Netztreibjagd gehen, sammeln die Frauen Fische und Kleintiere und führen Ahnentänze auf. Nach der Rückkehr der Jäger wird ein Mahl für die Ahnen zubereitet. In einem abschließenden Festumzug werden die Kultgegenstände in das inzwischen neu errichtete Sanktuarium zurückgebracht.
Clan members are reunited to honor their departed ancestors with the Tonga Bondo festival. A procession takes the ancestral spirits to a central location in the village where they are ceremoniously placed on a bed of leaves and branches. There are anointings, invocations, gift-giving, and dances for the ancestors. Finally a meal is prepared and offered to the spirits as they are reinstated in their renewed sanctuary.
