La evolución de la investigación sobre gobiernos municipales en México, 1984-2016

El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar la evolución de la investigación sobre los gobiernos municipales en México para reconocer su vinculación con el contexto social, económico y político del país. Para este trabajo se hizo una revisión de las 1 429 publicaciones, sistematizadas y clasificadas en el Catalogo de Publicaciones sobre Gobiernos Municipales. Los resultados del análisis permiten reconocer que la investigación sobre gobiernos municipales en México ha seguido una estrategia de trabajo colectivo para responder a la heterogeneidad de este orden de gobierno en toda la extensión territorial del país; de la misma forma, se ha privilegiado la cobertura nacional y municipal con una fuerte tendencia al uso de métodos cualitativos.
This paper aims at analyzing the evolution of municipal government research in Mexico with the purpose of recognizing their connection with the social, economic and political context in the country. The 1 429 publications that are systematized and classified in the Catalog of Publications on Municipal Governments were reviewed for this paper. The outcomes of the analysis reveal that research on municipal governments in Mexico has followed a strategy of collective work to respond to this level of government's heterogeneity throughout the country. Also, national and municipal scope has been privileged in studies on municipal governments with a strong tendency to the use of qualitative methods.
