Sustainability and river management in Taipei City, Taiwan
Sustainability issues in Asian metropolitan centers have attracted considerable attention recently, but most studies have focused primarily on providing a comprehensive comparison of economic, social, and environmental indicators in various cities. The interaction between nature and cities during the process of urbanization has been largely overlooked in the assessment of sustainability. This article presents a case study of Taipei city to investigate the challenges associated with sustainable development through an investigation of the relationship between Taipei City and Keelung River and a discussion of relevant policy implications.
