Cultural showcase for the world

More than 4,700 institutions have committed themselves to the idea of the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek and have registered. With their digitised holdings, the participating institutions are establishing the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek as a cultural showcase for the world. They thus also contribute to the democratisation of knowledge.

Free and free access to cultural heritage on the Internet

The Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek makes the cultural heritage of German cultural institutions available online free of charge and centrally. In addition, the holdings of the participating cultural institutions can be published via the API (Application Programming Interface) . This allows the data and methods of the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek to be used by external applications (such as websites or mobile apps) and embedded in new contexts.

Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek cooperation project

Participating institutions also benefit from the professional exchange with many other institutions of all cultural sectors – in workshops, at specialist congresses or in working groups at national and international level. Many different institutions from all over Germany are partners of the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek - the cultural map provides an up-to-date overview.

Europe

The cooperation partners also have the option of making their data available to the European culture portal Europeana via the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek.
