Innerhalb der hohen Umzäunung um das Männerhaus beginnt für die Novizen eine lange Seklusionszeit, während sie in die Geheimnisse des Männerhauses eingeweiht werden und bestimmte Fertigkeiten erlernen: Schnitzen und Flechten, Musikinstrumente spielen, gegen Feinde kämpfen und sich von Frauen absondern. Sie sind mit weißer Tonfarbe eingeschmiert, und um den Hals tragen sie einen Baststrick (Nabelschnur), der nach Ende der Seklusion entfernt wird. Zweiter Film einer dreiteiligen Serie; vgl. In the enclosure of the men's house the initiates spend a long period of seclusion, during which time they are initiated into the secrets of the men's house and taught special activities: carving and plaiting, playing the flute and the bull-roarer, fighting against enemies, and separating from the women. They are smeared with white clay, they wear a string of bast (the "navel-string") round the neck, and they are given several meals a day to grow big and strong.
