The stable and augmented locus, C-pairs, and positivity

Abstract: We study the pullback of the stable and augmented base locus under a finite surjective morphism between normal varieties over a perfect field. We use this to define the augmented base locus associated to the orbifold cotangent sheaf of a smooth C-pair. We show that obstructions exist for the orbifold cotangent sheaf to be ample. We adapt previously existing examples of smooth C-pair surfaces with ample orbifold cotangent sheaves, to provide new examples
