Los ritmos de la rebeldía: la música en la formación política de estudiantes activistas universitarios

En este artículo se analiza el papel de la música en la formación política de un peculiar personaje de la vida cotidiana en la unam: el estudiante activista de izquierda radical, caracterizado por su rebeldía ante el gobierno, el Estado y el capitalismo. La investigación se fundamenta teóricamente en los conceptos de cultura política y formación política. Mediante relatos de vida a 12 estudiantes activistas provenientes de dos facultades de la unam, se describen sus géneros musicales predilectos: rock, ska, reggae y trova; en tanto la música juega un papel fundamental en los procesos de identificación entre sí y con las causas de su lucha, es un proceso de intercambio simbólico fundamental en la construcción de su cultura política.
This article analyzes the role of music in the political formation of a unique character in the daily life of unam: the radical leftist activist student, characterized by their rebellion against the government, the state and capitalism. This research is theoretically based on the concepts of political culture and political formation and has a qualitative approach using life stories of 12 activist students from two unam schools. The favorite musical genres of the interviewees are rock, ska, reggae and trova. Music plays a fundamental role in the processes of identification amongst the group and with the causes of their struggle, and it is a process of symbolic exchange fundamental in the construction of its political culture.
