Der Großstreifenbeutler klettert im Kreuzgang, wobei der Greifschwanz vorwiegend als Balancierorgan dient. Insektenlarven werden mit Schneidezähnen und Zunge aus Bohrgängen geholt. Größere Nahrung (Heuschrecke, Weinbeere) wird beim Fressen mit den Vorderpfoten gehalten. Dabei umgreift der vierte verlängerte Finger einen Ast.
The film shows an adult male Striped possum (Dactylopsila trivirgata) in its enclosure and demonstrates climbing a trunk, catching of prey and eating. When the animal is climbing it moves in the way of crosswalking (e. g. right-front and left-behind simultanously). The prehensile tail is used as a balancing organ and only eventually it embraces branches. Meal worms hidden in bored holes are caught by the long tongue. The chisel-like incisors are used to take off the bark in order to enlarge the openings. A grasshopper is eaten, it is heald by one or two anterior paws: only wings and legs are left behind: When the Striped Possum starts eating a grape is sits down and takes hold of the grape with both anterior paws while its prolonged fourth finger is embracing a branche.
