Lehrkräftemangel. Ein Kommentar zur gegenwärtigen Situation

Abstract: In dem Kommentar wird zunächst auf einige historische Hintergründe des wiederkehrenden Problems des Lehrkräftemangels aufmerksam gemacht. Im Anschluss daran geht es um die Möglichkeiten, einem Lehrkräftemangel zu begegnen, und zwar präventiv, langfristig und kurzfristig. Es wird dafür plädiert, die schon immer existierende Realität des (qualifizierten) Seiten- und Quereinstiegs in den Lehrberuf neu zu bewerten. Die Zyklen von Mangel und Überfüllung am Lehrkräftearbeitsmarkt führen zu einer schwankenden Beurteilung der Bedeutung von Lehrberuf und Lehrpersonenbildung in der Öffentlichkeit, aber auch innerhalb der Universitäten. Zum Schluss werden vor dem Hintergrund der aktuellen Debatte einige skeptische, unkonventionelle Gedanken zu Grundproblemen von Lehrberuf, Lehrpersonenbildung und Lehrkräftemangel entwickelt. Abstract: The commentary first draws attention to the historical background to the recurring problem of teacher shortages. It then looks at the possibilities of counteracting a shortage of teachers preventively, both in the long term and in the short term. A plea is made concerning the re-evaluation of the entry of alternatively qualified teachers into the teaching profession. The cycles of shortage and overcrowding in the teaching labour market lead to a varying assessment of the importance of the teaching profession and teacher education in the public but also within universities. In the final section, against the background of the current debate, unconventional thoughts on some basic problems of the teaching profession, teacher education, and teacher shortage are developed.
