Medios de comunicación y procesos electorales: los monitoreos de medios

Este artículo revisa las principales acciones de monitoreo de medios en América Latina y resalta las prácticas de observación durante los procesos electorales, especialmente en el caso mexicano. Se cuestiona el uso de protocolos de observación limitados a la medición de ausencias o presencias de actores y temas en los diferentes medios, que fueron muy útiles en los tiempos del control informativo, pero no lo son tanto en el contexto actual de saturación informativa e hipermediática.
This article reviews the principle actions of the monitoring of the media in Latin America, emphasizing the practices of observation during electoral processes, especially those in the Mexican case. It questions the use of protocols of observation limited to the measurements of absence or presence of actors and themes in the different media, that were very useful in times of informative control, but are not so in the actual context of informative saturation and hiper-mediatic.
