Töpferei in Fidschi - I. Herstellung von Kochtöpfen in Lappentechnik

Im Dorf Sigatoka (Insel Viti Levu) stellen Frauen aus mit Sand und Wasser gemischtem und geknetetem Ton Kochtöpfe her. Aus der Tonmasse werden drei Lappen geformt und zu einem Topf zusammengesetzt, der mit Klopfholz und Stein bearbeitet, gedehnt und geformt wird. Nach dem Trocknen werden die Töpfe mit ihren Öffnungen nach außen im Brennhaufen gebrannt.
Women from the island Viti Levu make cooking pots from clay mixed with sand and water. They form a vessel from three clay slabs and continue work with paddle and anvil to widen the pot. After drying the pots are pitfired.
