Miradas a la Medellín rural: razones para un mayor reconocimiento y protección de los campesinos y campesinas en el municipio de Medellín

Being three quarters of the territory rural land, Medellin is a rural municipality. However policies and plans are overseeing the countryside and its rural population and thus ignoring its vital importance to the city. The Land Use Plan (POT), which is in a process of review and adjustment is an important tool for modeling and structuring territorial development, which is based on a city model. Currently you can see significant changes in the rural and urban land that led to strong social and environmental impacts, which have shown a weakness in institutional planning and control of the municipal territory. Thus, in the nearby city spaces, multiple territorial conflicts are shown in which peasants, for their vulnerability and restricted citizenship suffer greater degree.
