Viscoelastic Behavior of Structural Epoxy Resins Loaded with Different Carbon Nanostructured Forms

Abstract: Carbonaceous nanofillers, namely carbon nanotubes (CNT) and graphene‐based nanoparticles (GNP), have truly attractive physical and mechanical properties such as high elastic modulus, as well as noteworthy thermal and electrical conductivities. This has inevitably stimulated a growing interest toward the development of CNT and GNP‐based composites with improved mechanical and electrical properties for application in aeronautics, aerospace, automotive, nautical, and in general, infrastructural field. In this context, understanding the rheological behavior of nanocomposites loaded with one‐dimensional (1D) and bi‐dimensional (2D) carbon fillers is crucial for optimizing the manufacturing process of carbon fiber reinforced panels (CFRPs) and for obtaining information on whether the structure is percolated. This study demonstrates the special ability of the analyzed systems to guarantee good rheological properties, thus confirming their applicability as structural materials in a wide temperature range.
