Open Access – ein Aspekt ethischer Grundsätze?

Das Prinzip des Open Access wird in der bibliothekarischen Praxis vorrangig anhand von rechtlichen, technischen, finanziellen und strukturellen Fragestellungen thematisiert. Dieser Beitrag untersucht die ethischen Aspekte von Open Access angesichts der Bedeutung dieses Prinzips für den freien Zugang zu Informationen anhand eines Vergleichs der ethischen Kodizes der Berufsverbände Bibliothek und Information Deutschland (BID), American Library Assocation (ALA) und International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA).
The idea of Open Access is primarily discussed with regards to legal, technical, financial and infrastructural aspects. This article looks into the ethical aspects of Open Access because of its importance for the principle of free access to information. The basis of this analysis is a comparison of codes of ethics from professional associations from Germany, the United States and the International Federation of Library Federations and Institutions (IFLA) as an international association.
