Hieb- und Stoßwaffe | Säbel | Scheide <Waffenkunde>
Light Cavalry Officer’s Sword und Scheide, 1935.W.016
This is an 1821 Pattern Light Cavalry Officer’s sword adapted for use by officers in the Royal Artillery. It has a single-edged steel blade, which remains blunt and does not appear to have been sharpened. The blade has a decorated dumbbell fuller and a spear point. At the base of the blade is a brown leather washer. Above the blade is an ornate gothic-hilted hilt which has been gilt with gold all over aside from the fish skin grip, which itself covers the wooden core. The entire weapon is in excellent condition and shows no signs of use or damage at all. It is also exquisitely decorated. The weapon is kept alongside its scabbard.
