The film shows the course of an anaesthesia induced by an injection using the practical examples of three horse anaesthesia. Sedation and premedication are carried out by a combination of a phenothiazine derivative, opiate and atropine. The anaesthesia by a thiobarbiturate and a relaxant from the Myanesin group follows this. The most important clinical signs which indicate the effect of premedication and act as a guide in judging the depth of anaesthesia are demonstrated. Special emphasis is also placed on measures taken to protect the animal from injuries during the initial phase of anaesthesia.
