As an introduction, the topographic relations and the course of the displacement of the abomasum to the left are shown (trick film). Then, the means for diagnosing this affection are demonstrated: control of faeces, urinalysis for ketone bodies, auscultation and percussion of the left chest wall (including the sounds to be heard over the dislocated organ), and endoscopy of the abdominal cavity. After that, the conservative treatment (casting and rolling of the animal over its back with simultaneous deep palpation of the abdominal wall) are explained in trick and life. Finally, the film shows the surgical treatment of leftside abomasal displacement: laparotomy from the right, puncture of the gasfilled abomasum, reposition of the organ and omentopexy to the right abdominal wall above the knee fold to prevent recidives (again in trick and in life).
