Nationalbibliothek Luxemburg – ein ambitioniertes Bauprojekt

Die Nationalbibliothek Luxemburg (Bibliothèque nationale du Luxembourg) ist die wichtigste Kultur-, Wissenschafts- und Forschungsbibliothek des Landes. Seit dem Umzug der Bibliothek in ihr neues, hochmodernes Gebäude im Jahr 2019 befinden sich zum ersten Mal in ihrer Geschichte alle Dokumente und Mitarbeitenden unter einem Dach. Bei der architektonischen Planung wurde besonders darauf geachtet, dass das neue Gebäude einladend und intuitiv für die Nutzerinnen und Nutzer ist, optimierte Arbeitsabläufe für die Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter ermöglicht und auf Flexibilität für zukünftige Erweiterungen setzt. Die Architekten verbanden Funktion und Design durch den Einsatz von natürlichem Licht und sorgfältig ausgewählten Materialien wie mikroperforierten, schallabsorbierenden Eichenholzpaneelen im Lesesaal und einer farbigen Betonfassade, wodurch sich die Bibliothek nicht nur von den traditionellen Bürogebäuden in ihrer Umgebung abhebt, sondern auch eine Atmosphäre von Komfort und Wärme schafft.
Abstract: The National Library of Luxembourg (Bibliothèque nationale du Luxembourg) is the country’s main library the for the access to heritage, science and research. Since the library moved into its new, state-of-the-art building in 2019, all its documents and staff are located under the same roof for the first time in its history. During the architectural planning, special care was taken to make the new building inviting and intuitive for its users, to allow for optimised workflows for staff and to focus on flexibility for future expansion. The architects combined function and design through using natural light and carefully selected materials, such as micro perforated, sound-absorbing oak panels in the reading room and a coloured concrete front, which not only sets the library apart from the traditional office buildings around it but also creates an atmosphere of comfort and warmth.
