In dem Film wird gezeigt, wie eine Männergruppe, vom Dorf herkommend, auf einen Hügel steigt. Die Gruppe, die schweigend anmarschiert, bringt eine etwa 14 m lange Stange, "Fahne" genannt, mit. Die Kaluscharengruppe wird von einer maskierten Gestalt, dem mutul, und drei Musikanten begleitet. Am Hügel angekommen, folgt der Schwur auf die Fahne. Anschließend wird getanzt. Ins Dorf zurückgekommen, kehren sie beim ersten Haus ein und führen ihre Tänze auf dem Hof auf. Der eine Tänzer wird vom mutul "getötet", der anschließend von der Gruppe gezwungen wird, den "Getöteten" wieder zum Leben zu erwecken. Das Spiel, das anscheinend in einem früheren Transitritus wurzelt, endet mit einem gemeinsamen Tanz. Zwei Kaluscharengruppen begegnen sich und führen unter Einhaltung gewisser Zeremonien (Begrüßung, formelhafte Verhandlung usw.) in einem Wettstreit verschiedene Tänze auf. Im letzten Teil des Films wird gezeigt, wie die Kaluscharengruppe, vom Dorf kommend, auf einen Hügel steigt, um die brauchtümlichen Handlungen der Pfingsttage abzuschließen. Von der "Fahne" werden das Tuch und die Kräuter heruntergenommen, unter den Kaluscharen verteilt, die Fahnenstange hochgestellt und auf ein Zeichen des mutuls losgelassen. In dem Augenblick springen die Männer auseinander und laufen in verschiedenen Richtungen weg. Sobald die Stange auf den Boden aufschlägt, kehren sie um und begrüßen sich gegenseitig, als hätten sie sich lange nichte mehr gesehen. Mit anschließendem Tanz endet der Film.
The film shows a group of men coming from the village up a hill. The group, marching silently, is carrying an approximately 14 m long pole, called the "flag". The kalushar group is accompanied by a masked figure, the mutul and three musicians. Having arrived at the hill the oath on the flag follows. Then there is dancing. When they return to the village they enter the first house and perform their dances in the yard. One of the dancers is "killed" by the mutul, who is then forced by the group to reawake the dead man to life. The game, which seems to be rooted in an earlier transit rite, ends with a dance for all. Two kalushar groups meet and perform several dances in a competition while observing certain ceremonies (greeting, formal parley etc.). The last part of the film shows the kalushar group coming from the village and climbing up a hill to conclude the traditional Whitsun rites. The cloth and the herbs are taken down from the "flag", distributed among the kalushars, the flag pole is hoisted up, and at a sign from the mutul it is let go. At that moment the men spring apart and run away in various directions. As soon as the pole hits the ground they turn round and greet each other as though they had not seen each other for a long time. The film ends with the subsequent dancing.
